Online Therapy in Midlothian, Texas

What is online counseling & how does it work?

Great question, with online counseling (telehealth) we are able to still meet for your sessions, even when we cannot meet face-to-face in my office. We would simply have your therapy sessions in an electronic (video or audio) format by using your computer, iPad, or smartphone.

But… what about confidentiality?

We use a HIPPA-compliant platform for video sessions and secure messaging. You can read more about SimplePractice and their commitment to the security of your electronic personal health information (ePHI), by clicking the link above. Before your first online counseling session, together, we will create a plan to help maintain confidentiality during your video or phone sessions.

Isn’t it going to feel different?

Yes, it will feel different since you will not be physically present in my office. However, there are some things you can do to create a comfortable space for your online (telehealth) sessions. Find a space that will have the least amount of distractions. Add your favorite pillow or blanket or stuffed animal. Perhaps you could even light your favorite candle or diffuse some essential oils. Oh…and feel free to bring your favorite non-alcoholic beverage or cup of coffee!

How do I pay for my sessions?

For online counseling sessions, I will be accepting credit/debit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards as the only form of payment. Unfortunately, I am not able to accept CashApp or Venmo for cash payments since they are not HIPPA compliant.

Will my insurance company reimburse me?

I am private pay and do not accept insurance. However, I would be considered an Out-of-Network Provider. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some insurance companies are accepting telehealth formats for reimbursement. However, each insurance provider is different so I recommend that you contact your insurance provider to see how they reimburse for telemental health sessions.
